Reisverslag White Tank

At some point there were a couple of informationsigns at the side of the trail. I checked it out and it was pointing out the periglyphs on the rocks to be seen and provinding onformation about them. Periglyphs are a kind of rock carvings from the native americans, hundreds of years ago. Now I looked closer and indeed I saw the white drawings on the brown rocks in front of me. They looked like egyptian carvings, but then larger.
The way back to the nature centre had more height differences than the way north. Where I had first hiked through the dry river valley, I had to go over one of the mountains back. The advantage of this is that I could see very far. I could even see the houses of Surprise, but until over there, the only thing to be seen was cactusses. Thousands of those green bastards growed on the surprisingly green eastside of Maricopa.
After 2 hours of hiking, I arrived back at the centre. But just before that I saw this strange looking bird. It was very small and almost hanging still in the air. A hummingbird, I realised. Quickly I wanted to take a picture, but I was too slow. It had already flown away. 'Have you seen that bird?', asked the same woman from the nature centre. I didn't understand, because there was no way she could have seen the hummingbird. She pointed iin the air and I saw a way bigger bird than the hummingbird. 'A vulture', the woman explained, 'getting rid of the parks dead animals. At least I was able to take a picture of that one.
